Since we are on the topic of conformal coating I am wondering if there is an
IPC standard for compatibility with a flux residue or any other material
that the conformal coating is placed over. As far as I know many people are
doing SIR for reliability data and adhesion testing. You can follow the IPC
SIR testing procedures for flux but there is also procedure for conformal
coatings. Which one would you follow if you were putting both on the board?
The other compatibility testing I think people are doing is adhesion
testing. Is there an IPC standard for this? From what I have heard it is
in the works but I haven't heard anything else. Does anyone have any
information on these topics?
