IPC 6012 Class 3/A requires cleanliness testing on completed boards. This is
performed IAW IPC-TM-650 2.3.25.
The IPC Test Method may be what you've heard about. If you require a certain
level of cleanliness you can;
1) Request it within the PO as a standalone requirement; or
2) Specify Class 3/A
Either way, talk with your supplier, ask them how they verify cleanliness.

Subject: [TN] Incoming Cleanliness of PCB's
I seem to be under the impression that there is an IPC standard for the
cleanliness of incoming PCB's.
If such a standard does exist could someone please supply me with the
document number?
Thanks.
