You didn't say humorous antidotes, but I'll answer anyway. The majority
of our experience is with HASL Sn/Pb printed boards and compliant pin
technology. Lots of data, experience, design rules, testing,
understanding and controlling have established that combination as
robust enough for the Aerospace Industry.
Building on that new compliancy there is no reason for ENIG not to work.
There are many white papers and test reports out there to support that
rational.
Knowing the hole truth will be the finish of the ENIGma.

Subject: [TN] PWB-Hole Plating for Press-Fit Connectors

To All:

Anyone want to share thoughts/comments/guidelines on pwb-hole plating
press-fit connectors. Specifically ENIG vs. Tin/Lead.

I've been told and saw in one article that tin/lead (soft) is preferred
over ENIG (nickel hard).

Thanks in advance,
