Hi Alan,
I have not had any issue with ENIG. I am sure it is harder, but I feel
the whole press-fit process is more dependant on the finished hole
diameter.
Please follow the recommended finshed hole diameter.
Work with your fab vendor to insure they can manufature the fab to the
finished hole tolerances required.
Work with your fab vendor to insure they can manufature the fab to the
recommended pre-drill.
Insure you are geting at least .001" of plating in the barrel.

Subject
[TN] PWB-Hole Plating for Press-Fit Connectors

To All:

Anyone want to share thoughts/comments/guidelines on pwb-hole plating
press-fit connectors. Specifically ENIG vs. Tin/Lead.

I've been told and saw in one article that tin/lead (soft) is preferred
over ENIG (nickel hard).

Thanks in advance,
