Hi Inge,
For low volume could use a pneumatic dispenser with a syringe of solder paste to run a bead of paste where you want it. Flow out from corners may starve the desired corner joint, though,

Best regards,
Leo

Phil,
Not so bad an idea to be yours (kidding).
Well, it's doable and I never thought of that method. Hmmmm..qluestion is if
the solder will wet (by capillary force) enough to cover the 90 degree corne
all the way. Maybe one can rotate the assembly 180 degrees and make a dip of
the opposite side. Worth thinking of.
Thanks.
Menisci..really? Hmmm...one cactus, many cacti..hmmmm

Inge,

My garage approach would be to clamp then all together and dip the
corners in a solder pot. However if your are trying to create a
production item I'll defer to the smarted members of our group.

Its meniscus.

Ah! You couldn't resist open this mail! Good. I need curious and
creative
people here. Imagine this:
Step 1: three FR4 boards 1x5 inches, just copper on both sides.
Step 2: another three boards exactly same
Step 3: machine three slots halfway in the first board
Step 4: machine three slots halfway in the second board
Step 5: slide the boards into each other so that you get a 'honeycomb'
Step 6: solder all the corners, there will be 36 corners.
Question: how would you do that?
Screen print along edges and solder mask to enhance solder to wet in the
90
degree corners?
Use IR oven or VP?
How do you avoid 'hanging' solder?
How do you get a nice, even and conformal solder menisque (how on earth
do
you spell that?)

Inge
