Victor,

From a practical point of view, that would be quite difficult. The actual internal gas volume of these devices is very, very small.

I'm not sure I would believe any number I got.

As a next level up, one could do a dye penetrant test.

Steve

Did you conduct a hermetic Test?

Good Morning Juan!

I have your pictures posted. They are here:

I'm with Inge on this one. These cracks are in the body, not good. There is something I have noticed in two of the pictures, UR1_004 and UR_001, is that the glass seems discolored right next to the termination, which to me indicates that they may have been thermally shocked.

Do you know where these diodes were purchased from? Brokers maybe? Maybe salvaged off some boards? Poorly pre-tinned to restore solderability?

I wouldn't use them...

Steve Gregory

Good Morning,

In a certain number of SMD diodes we have detected what we consider as a crack in the glass body of the diode. This condition was already present in the diodes packaged in a reel, that is, before mounting in the PWAs.

What we cannot determine yet is if this condition could be acceptable. Could you help us through your valuable opinions?

PD: I have sent 3 photographs to Steve Gregory.

Thank you in advance.
