Specification of areas that must be and must not be covered are the typical
problem.
The tolerance between those areas should be with in the process capability of
your coating equipment. Do you know what you can hold for the process and
material that will be used? Ideally there is a large don't care zone in between.
The most common result is a connector adjancent to a must coat area.
Depending on material and equipment used an addtional pass may be required
for needle rather than spray dispensing to reduce the tolerance required. Tis
will increase cycle time.
Verify that what is required by the customer is consistent with IPC-HDBK-830.
Customer may have requirements that defy the physics of the materila used.
