Methods

Paymon,
IPC-SF-818 is OLD! I had to go looking to find my dusty copy of it.
This is a dead document. In it at the back it has the IPC-TM-650 Test
Method 2.6.3.3 of March 1988. The NEW version, 2.6.3.3, rev B, which
you can download for free from the IPC webpage, is from, I presume, June
2004, since it says 06/04. I checked other test methods and they show
the year as the second number.

Interesting! If I go and look at my hard copy of ANSI/J-STD-004
(January 1995), at the back of it the copy of 2.6.3.3 is labelled as
Revision A, yet it has a date of January 1995, which is a newer date
than the Revision B on the IPC webpage.

Jack!!!!!!!!!!!?
(Jack is at the IPC meetings this week. We will probably not hear from
him until Monday.

Subject: [TN] IPC-SF-818, Class III and IPC-TM-650 2.6.3.3 Test Methods

Does anyone know the difference between these 2 tests? Our flux
datasheet refers to the IPC-SF-818, Class III test method for the SIR
test result but it does not provide the resistance value! Does this test
method supersede the standard SIR test method as per J-STD-004?

Thank you in advance,

Paymon
