My few 400 Watts MATCHED with room volume is far better than 20,000 Watts
nearly 100% ATTENUATED in that small volume. Means that lots of power moves
back to PA, some transformed into mechanical energy, and you get no sinus,
all distorted. 100% meaningless transportation of mechanical/electrical
energy forth and back. But probably very funny to build.

Here in the states there's this thing that's going on that guys try to
pack as much sound as they possibly can into their vehicles, I mean they
go to crazy extremes! They even have competitions of who has the most
powerful sound systems. They're really into low frequencies, the bass
thump, thump, thump.

Here's a video clip of a guy that has a Chevy Tahoe that has four
18-inch subwoofers that's being driven by 20,000 watts! You can see the
windows and body panels flexing, and there are two girls, one sitting in
the front passengers seat, and the other standing outside the front
passengers door, who hair looks like it's being blown by hurricane winds
when the guy cranks the system up! Unbelievable!

Last time I cranked up my system my subwoofer was emitting this horrible
crackling noise... found a "Bob the Builder" toy crane on top of the
cone. If I was running Inge's power levels I could have blown that
thing through the roof!!! Can we wreck it? Yes we can!!!

I'm jealous. If I run anything louder than a whisper my family
complains. My cheap $10 computer speakers get me by. Sigh.

I did have a chance to turn up the big stereo system one day when my
daughter said her system was louder than mine. He, He, He, children are
so innocent. Seeing the challenge I sent her to her room to "turn up
her system". Once up there I put our old, 30+ years, stereo up to about
half volume. She quickly conceded.

Speaking of deaf neighbors, I was renting the house next door (100 feet
away) to a friend. One day while sitting on my sofa I started bouncing
up and down as the earth vibrated. Seems my renter had turned up his
system while playing the Eurhythmics "Sweet Dreams Are Made of These".
Think what it was like inside his house.

Are your neighbours deaf or do you live in the countryside?
