1) IPC-6012 / IPC-600. Is acceptability per IPC-A-600 implicit in IPC-6012?
Our PCB drawings have notes stating fabrication per 6012, acceptability per
600. The vendor is stating IPC-600 is implicit in 6012. I see the logic,
and even agree, but no-where in 6012 (that I could locate), except
"Reference Documents" is there mention of 600. 600 has a nice statement in
section 1.5 stating "IPC-6010 series establishes the minimum acceptability
requirements for printed boards. This document, IPC-A-600, is a companion
and complementary document, providing pictorial interpretation of these
requirements." So I have a link from 600 to 6010 series, but nothing from
6010 series to 600. ???

2) IPC-6012, Section 3.8.2. "Electrical Continuity and Insulation
Resistance".
First sentence states "Boards shall be tested in accordance with IPC-9252,

IPC-9252 ""Guidelines and Requirements for Electrical Testing of Unpopulated
Printed Boards." does not use the term "Insulation Resistance" anywhere.
They define "isolation resistance" (sect 3.21) and define an "Isolation
Test" method (sect 4.2).

I am not an expert in test, particularly around bare PCBs (vs populated
pcbs), but I had always understood isolation to mean something completely
different than insulation resistance. Is this correct? Is the 6012
reference to "Insulation" resistance in error?

II would be particulary interested in getting some test basics from someone,
offline even if required.
