Gary,
Do these dots turn red in the presence of liquid water or any water? It
would be interesting to know how humidity affects such dots. It is pretty
humid here in Iowa these days.

Re: [TN] Friday NTC - water logged cell phone repair

Convenient thread, I have just gotten a blackberry from a friend that
was dropped into a cup of soda pop - it may require some extraordinary
measures to unstick it.

Also, we noticed recently that when we called in for warranty repairs on
another phone, they asked us to look in the battery compartment and see
if there was a red dot. The dot is a moisture detection sticker:
normally white, it turns red in the presence of water. I imagine a lot
of people have been caught wet-handed that way.

I've seen those dots in about half the phones I've looked in, though in
some they may be deeper inside.  They come in various sizes and shapes;
typically about 1/8" in dia. Made by 3M.
