Dear All,

I just wanted to remind you that comments to Norway's Prohibition on
Certain Hazardous Substances in Consumer Products (lovingly being referred
to as PoHS) regulation via the TBT process is due this coming Friday,
August 10. I strongly recommend commenting on it. I've attached the
notification and full regulation (including what the document terms an
"impact assessment"), but recommend signing up (if you aren't already) to
DOC/NIST's Notify U.S. and sending your comments through the U.S. Inquiry
Point ([log in to unmask]). This will allow the USG to know what your main
concerns are so that we can try to address them bilaterally and
multilaterally and often makes it more likely that foreign governments
will respond to them.

To sign up to Notify U.S. and view this and other notifications, please
visit: www.nist.gov/notifyus.

For those that can not receive attachments, please sign up to Notify U.S.
- both the TBT notification as well as the full 54 page draft regulation
are available on the site.

I would also urge you to contact and encourage your industry colleagues
and associations in other countries to comment as well. Additionally,
even if you are unable to submit comments by the August 10th TBT deadline,
I would still encourage you to submit comments to the U.S. Inquiry Point
as Norway's domestic comment period (as well as the comment period for the
EU) will remain open until September 1, 2007.

My colleague Christine Brown has also provided some very useful info.
found below.
