Hi Edward,

I know why lead in toys is banned, it is for the same reason that lead
in paint for residential use was banned back in 1978. Kids put toys and
paint chips in their mouths.

The point I was trying to make (which is what you also stated), was why
did our industry get turned upside down by banning lead in solders when
we all know that the chance of ingesting lead from electronics is nil,
and yet the world allows China to export toys containing lead to
millions of our children?

I think the priorities to stop lead poisoning in humans were wrong when
lead was banned in electronic solders.

Hi Steve,
You are using wrong argumnent. Lead on toys is banned because kids are
used to put their toys into mouths.
It is very rare and uncommon to chew populated PCB.

Subject: [LF] [TN] Lead Contaminated Toys From China...

I'm sure many of you have heard about the latest recall of one million
lead contaminated Fisher-Price toys that were imported from China. If
you haven't, here's a link:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/01/toy.recall.ap/index.html

I hear about this stuff and wonder why in the hell the electronic
industry has been literally turned upside down by banning lead in
solders, yet allows the chinese to export lead contaminated toys to
millions of children!

As bad as it is to export poisonous toys to our kids, if that was the
only problem, that would be one thing, but it doesn't stop there. We've
had everything from poisonous pet food to tooth paste, to seafood
exported to us from China and it's allowed to continue to happen. The
Consumer Product Safety Commission say that 60% of all recalled consumer
products in the United States this year has come from China.

WHEN IS THIS GOING TO STOP?

It's obvious that our government could care less about the people of
this country. They're too busy catering to the big business lobbyists. I
just wish there was some way that the people could rise up and say
enough is enough! Get the government off it's ass and start doing the
job it was elected to do, and protect the citizens of this country!!!

There...I've had my rant for the morning.

Steve Gregory
