That is a very valuable observation. Even if it can reach someone
siginificant at microsoft, rest of us can appreciate it. Hardware cannot be
treated like software. Windows have many ideosyncracies. It is an expansion
around a old hut to convert the hut into a mansion, not a mansion designed
ground up.

They launch every version of windows as a beta site test on the World
followed by a hundred patches to make it work. ( The new computer I just
bought my daughter needed over 100 upgrade "patches" new out of the box on
Vista) 

Maybe they thought they could do the same with
hardware.......................8-)
