This is from the UL procedure re: marking...

'A board is required to have the Recognized Marking indicated in the
descriptive section of this procedure...'

I have not heard or seen any UL requirement for placement of the Logo
for
a PCB Assembly that is housed in a unit from a customers view.

I fully agree with you comments/concerns. I see this more and more
coming from abroad. The PWB logo is done in silk screen over the
solder mask.

Doesn't UL have a control over this vendor logo marking placement.

I do not believe that removing a regulatory logo of any form is
acceptable
and here is the reason why:

UL approves various sites for the manufacture of goods (in this case
circuit
boards)

The reason they do this is to benchmark an acceptable standard for
safety
and insurance purposes note the name UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES.

So if your customer gets you to ship boards in without markings and
hence no
traceability and is getting a second supply of similar but substandard
boards from "El crappo circuits manufacturing co" and there is a problem
with the subsequent electronics how are they going to work out the
issue.

Sending in boards without markings is like shipping a loaded gun in the
above scenario. I would be asking for a liability waiver based on this
request.

My previous employers used to charge extra if a customer wanted a
product without a logo. After all, it then becomes a special....

But yes, agree with the comments on indulging the customer in order to
keep their business.
