I'm interested in opinions regarding Vendor Markings. If a fabrication
drawing is silent regarding vendor markings, is it acceptable to apply the
fabricators UL logo? We have a customer that is angry we applied our logo.
However, we feel we need to apply our logo for our own traceability and
ability to do failure analysis should the boards ever be in question.

We have had several occasions where our customers return boards we didn't
build. It obviously is easy when we can show them the logo is not ours, but
it gets difficult when there are no logos on the board.

They'd like us to rebuild 5 lots of boards due to not asking them if it was
acceptable to apply our vendor id.

Should the fabricator be responsible for requesting approval for vendor
markings on every job, or should the board buyer be responsible for stating
no vendor markings allowed?

Your input is appreciated.
