I like your analogy, though when you mentioned it my thoughts ran to
carp  
the boniest fish I have ever encountered. 
 
The fishbone diagram reference was not from me but from Ingemar
Hernefjord. 
It is impressive.

I think a lot of us are just waiting for the same answer as you;  we
would all love to see a wishbone chart by which we can trace back  the

But this  particular wishbone chart, if it even exists, would have more
individual  bones than a Minnesota Northern Pike.
