Dominic,
Brokers (did they store them under a tarp in lower Louisiana during
Katrina?), parts with date codes older than two years (assuming you
stored them in decent conditions (please don't ask for a definition of
decent)), three years if in properly sealed MSL bags, new parts from
companies you don't have warm fuzzies about (found a part with THICK Pd)
and parts that you are having problems with on the shop floor (found a
part with bare nickel!).

The times are my seat of the pants approach after 17 years in the
industry, not from any standard.

Subject: [TN] Components solderability

Hello TechNetters,

I have a question for electronic manufacturers. I would like to know in
which cases a solderability test for component leads should be done?
Should it be done for all kind of parts or only for those bought from
brokers? Also, how often the test should be done?

Thank you

Dominic
