That's an issue a LOT of components have magnetic materials in them - in
some cases the lead frames, nickel barriers on R's and C's etc.

I think you might have to live with it and calibrate the design to a zero
condition based on the sensed field of the final assembly.

I should tell a little more about the application.
This is not RF, it is a magnetic sensor. Any magnetic materials nearby
mess up the readings.

Hi Wayne! Just a word of caution - gold and silver do not necessarily
play
well together. The connector industry unsuccessfully tried to use a gold

over silver plating scheme that resulted in corrosion, intermittent
contact and solderability issues. I would advise caution if a design
team
is contemplating using a gold/silver plating combination.

I love crazy apps! Will you share that with us? The tiny amount of
Nickel used I have never heard of causing a problem before.

Obviously, silver is compatible with copper, and I believe that silver
and gold get along pretty well together too. So maybe gold on silver.
Probably need to put shorting bars on so you have the flexibility of
electroplating.

We are using nickel as a barrier metal on a PC board for the pads.

Are there any other barrier metals we can use which are non-magnetic.

Bare copper is not an option.
