Doug highlights a very key problem in our industry-- the fundamental lack of
chemistry education in the typical curriculum of any electronics person in
design or on the production line. Thus it is often easy for such folks to have
problems with incompatible materials and residues during production.
Like it or not, most of the chemists in the industry are found in the labs
and tech service groups of the suppliers, with the materials lab folks after
that.

Should IPC publish a preferred or minimum training curriculum for people
considering entering the design or production phases of the industry? I think we
should- it could certainly reduce chemical waste and disposal costs for the
industry in these times of huge pressures on our manufacturing cost structure.
Perhaps others would like to consider/debate this point, resulting in some
ideas to put before TAEC.
