The fact that it lifted in the first palce is not comforting but it  appears 
to be on the coverlayer/coverfilm only so you might be ok. Tears  once 
initiated, tend to propagate. Chuck's suggestion should work. Another  approach would 
be to try can get the tear to turn back to the edge and then  coat it with a 
thin coat of silicon RTV or flexible epoxy. As long as it  does not get abused 
you should be Ok.
