Ted,

I have written internal ones but never kept a copy. What we did for the
criterion that was developed was to include classifying the surface based on
how visible it would be in the end use environment. So surfaces that would
be visible by the end user had a higher degree than the back or bottom
would. Then the criteria for items like scratches and such was developed. So
for say a side visible in the end use might have a criterion stated that no
scratches to bare metal visible at 12" with an unaided eye but the same
criteria might change to 18" for the bottom. For silk screening for
lettering we tended to follow the IPC-610 following the silkscreen section.
For logos and such, this was the toughest criteria following the most
visible surface but had specific details for missing logo pieces,
positioning, and colors must match within a certain pantone range.

Subject: [TN] Cosmetic Specification

Hi all,

Is there an industry standard on cosmetic? Such as
sheet-metal, painted/coated chassis, plastic parts and
printed information, etc? If not, does anyone has an
internal spec that they are willing to share?

Thanks all in advance.

Ted Kong
