My favorite Technet saying: It depends.

It is really a question of how much risk your company is willing to take that a supplier will indeed send you RoHS compliant material. One mistake from a supplier, you use non-compliant parts and produce a non-compliant product, and it is your company that is facing the impound of your product and whatever fine the EU decides to levy.

Having the spec sheet that says RoHS compliant is a good start. A cert is even better. But to be absolutely sure, you might need a handheld scanner and perform lot sample testing upon receipt.

And just hope your purchasing department doesn't go out a buy older parts and get non-compliant parts simply because they got a good deal.

Hi all,

I am going over our AVL to ensure all components we
purchase are RoHS compliant. My question is that if
the MFG spec-sheet already states "RoHS Complaint", do
I still need to get a Certificate of Compliant and a
Material Declaration from each supplier? Is the
spec-sheet sufficient by itself?

What does other company do? Please share your company
practice if possible.

Thanks all in advance.

Regards,

Ted
