A lot is said both from Steve and from myself, but I begin to doubt we made 
things clear for you. Why not simply do this (we use it):
ask the board supplier to do test bondings (tell them what wire, size, 
wedge/ball etc you use) and send to you for evaluation. Could it be simpler? 
Most board makers have collegues nearby with bonders, some have themselves.
