IPC Webcast: Embedded Passive Components - Costs More or Costs Less?
Get the Facts
May 16, 2007- 10:00 am - 11:00 am (CT), 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (ET)

The compelling reasons to embed passive components are cost, performance
and size/density. If you have not yet hit the wall on performance or
size/density, is cost the most compelling reason? Should PCBs cost more
with embedded components? Can spending more on PCBs lower system costs?
Can you figure this out without expensive modeling tools? The answer to
all of these questions is yes.
If you don't need them and they cost more, it doesn't make much sense to
use them. How do you make that determination? Sophisticated cost
modeling tools are available, but they require going down to the level
of labor rates of the PCB and assembly companies and depreciation costs
of equipment etc. This is OK if you can get the information and enter it
correctly, and keep it current. However, one slip in the set up can
produce a potentially seriously misleading result.
Learn how to establish a cost basis, quickly, reliably, and
inexpensively. This webcast is a must for anyone responsible for or
considering embedding passive components; including program managers,
purchasing agents, project engineers, product designers, PCB designers
and M&P engineers.
