First of all, to cut our stockroom people some slack - this is the
general stockroom, not the SMT stores where things might be stored
partially consumed. Anything stored in this fridge is still sealed and
new stock from receiving that hasn't been issued out yet. I think some
of the guys there almost never leave that area. The lunchroom and only
other fridge option is on the complete opposite end of the building.

The containers are all still sealed, unopened. I guess I should have
been more specific - my question is how/where do you recycle it? I am
having trouble finding any place convenient to the center of the
Canadian prairies. We also don't have a wave solder pot in house.
Maybe I'll contact the wave solder contractor we use ...

Subject: Re: [TN] What to do with expired solder paste?

Hi Genny,
First off, from a safety perspecitve, a dedicated refrigerator should be
used to store solder pastes and other chemicals away from human
consumables.
In the past, I have dumped expired solder paste in the wave solder pot
and tinning solder pots. One other option is to dispose of it as
hazardous waste.

Good luck!

Steve

Was sorting through the fridge in the stockroom at work...pushed aside a
couple of sandwiches and yogurts (the stockroom people keep their
lunches in there...) and came across a box with 9kg(18 jars) of solder
paste expired in mid 2004 - a brand we don't use any more. Standard
63/37 no-clean.

What would you do with it? Never even been opened.

Genny.
