Good morning all,
For our PTH design boards we include a 0.5 inch wide v-scored rail on
all four sides. These rails contain alignment holes for our Contact
Systems machines. They also allow us to handle the boards through the
finger conveyor with components out to the edge of the finished board
and easily store in the board storage racks.
A question has been raised, for cost cutting reasons, if these are
really necessary for SMT design boards. Should we just design them
one-up with no rails and let the fab house and CM work out the final
configuration?
Thanks in advance.
