Subject: [LF] New ASTM Standard Announcement

There is a new standard developed by ASTM International Committee F40
available to assist companies with assessing their products/materials for
compliance with substance restriction requirements. The new standard, ASTM
F2577-06, Standard Guide for Assessment of Materials and Products for
Declarable Substances, is meant to help engineers, quality personnel,
chemists, purchasing agents and anyone else involved in product/materials
specification, procurement, testing and/or compliance. It should help cut
down on superfluous testing and give a reference to point to regarding
requests for unnecessary information (such as PBDE concentration in wrought
stainless steel). The new standard was made available today by ASTM and may
be purchased from ASTM International at:

any questions you may have concerning this new standard.
