And save those lead clippings separately from your metal scrap. The
metal recycling companies will pay a premium for it.

Hi All!
 
It's been a quite a while ago, but I posted about a problem I was having
trimming leads on a 421-pin connector. We were trimming the leads by
hand. To refresh your memory, I've re-posted the pictures of the
connector below:

As you can imagine, trimming the leads on this connector is quite the
task! Well, I found a solution and I just wanted to share.
 
We wound-up buying a CO58 lead shear from Streckfuss and ordering a
custom tooling plate for the connector:

The shear and tooling plate wasn't cheap, but with the connector costing
over $300, you want to make sure it will shear the pins cleanly and
accurately. It shears all 421-pins in less than a second:

Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a machine that can do
something like this...
