Hi All! It's been a quite a while ago, but I posted about a problem I was having trimming leads on a 421-pin connector. We were trimming the leads by hand. To refresh your memory, I've re-posted the pictures of the connector below: http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com/files/Connector_Top.jpg http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com/files/Connector_bottom.jpg As you can imagine, trimming the leads on this connector is quite the task! Well, I found a solution and I just wanted to share. We wound-up buying a CO58 lead shear from Streckfuss and ordering a custom tooling plate for the connector: http://stevezeva.homestead.com/files/CO58.jpg http://stevezeva.homestead.com/files/CO58_Pattern.jpg The shear and tooling plate wasn't cheap, but with the connector costing over $300, you want to make sure it will shear the pins cleanly and accurately. It shears all 421-pins in less than a second: http://stevezeva.homestead.com/files/CO58_2.jpg http://stevezeva.homestead.com/files/Trimmed_Connector.jpg Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a machine that can do something like this... -Steve Gregory- --------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8e To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt or (re-start) delivery of Technet send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet NOMAIL or (MAIL) To receive ONE mailing per day of all the posts: send e-mail to [log in to unmask]: SET Technet Digest Search the archives of previous posts at: http://listserv.ipc.org/archives Please visit IPC web site http://www.ipc.org/contentpage.asp?Pageid=4.3.16 for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-615-7100 ext.2815 -----------------------------------------------------
