Jack,

A fabricator can be your best friend or worst enemy ....

I have fabricators (friends) that I have worked with for years that have
saved my a*s on several occasions by correcting and flagging issues to me.
Therein lies the key ... they ALWAYS communicate any changes they are making.

On the flip side, I also must deal with fabricators whose sole purpose is to
provide the cheapest possible solution. Biggest problem appears to be lack
of communication - either it's a language thing or the design has been
brokered through so many different individuals that there's no flow of
information. Common theme is non-compliance to the master drawing and design
files.
