Subject: Re: [TN] 0402s and trace width

Hi Roger,
The trace width sounds good. What I would also look out for,
especially
with RF, is more than one trace coming into a pad on one side, and the
opposite pad having just one trace coming into it. This can cause one
pad to not heat as fast as the other. Another thing is to look for
unbalanced trace widths coming into the pads.

The best thing to do to compensate for this is to look closely /
experiment with the air gap between the pads.

Merry Christmas!
Kerry

Subject
[TN] 0402s and trace width

Hi Y'all,

Just started using 0402s en masse on a new product. Potential problem
started to bother me, wanted to bounce this off all those brilliant
people out there. Any one have some ideas on max trace/ copper width
connecting a pad for a 0402 package device? Currently using 7 mil
traces for signals, 10 or 12 mils for power connections, thinking about
6.25 or 6 (for signal) to help with routing density issues...

Thanks,

Roger
