Steve,

it's plenty of MELFs on telecom boards also; not so many resistors, but
mainly glass diodes.

I guess one of the reasons why the CAD people like them is because they
can also make those C-shaped pads that are another blessing, making the
parts roll all over the PCB.

I've always thought that the reason MELF resistors are used was just to
aggravate me, and make me have to go out and buy special MELF nozzles
for my pick and place machines ;^}

Seriously, I think that their electrical and mechanical characteristics
are more robust than a chip resistor. I don't know that for sure, but
about the only time I see them used are on military products.

What could be the reason for using Melf MMa0204resistors  instead 1206
Thinfilm.? tolerance both 0.1.
