Not quite as simple as that. The phosphors (toxic!!!) and graphite would
have to be removed first (as well as the electron gun and shadow mask).

The face plate (comprising most of the weight of the tube) can be cut
off, cleaned and repolished and re-used. There is a plant in Germany
(perhaps elsewhere, as well) that does this. However, this is, I
believe, quite tricky and can be done only for tubes that are still current.
