Just for the anecdote, I imported some 600 bucks worth of electronics
for my private use from the USA yesterday. I was present during the
Customs declaration process. There was absolutely no mention of RoHS and
it was clear that the only equipment they had was a knife to slit open
taped cartons and a roll of tape to reseal them. IOW, anything could pass.

Naturally, I did not raise the question!!!
