        Hi Diamond:
If it happens around some parts only, it may not be
the board but the component. Something like that happened to us except
the lines were thinner and a lot more of them. If you touch them up and
they smooth up, it may be like your vendor says cooling lines. You may
want to take a board and have the solder on those joints checked for
contamination and compared to a good joint.
        Regards,
        Ramon

Why is it that when we share out thoughts we give our two cents and when
someone wants to know what we think, they are willing to pay only one
penny? Is it because some people are cheap?

Hi Wayne,

apologies to you and the rest of the forum for not clarifying, the mark
you can see is a probe mark from the supplier testing (separate issue),
this was the best picture I could get in the time available.

regards,

Pat

Pat-

What the devil is that thing in the very center of the photograph? Is
it a projection? Looks like it projects out and leans to the
right--kind of looks like a silver pony tail, and it looks like the
solder is backed off from it.

Please clarify.

Hi Everyone!

Well, I finally got Pat's picture up! The reason it's taken me so long
is because I'm back home in North Carolina, and the only internet access
I have is dial-up at a screaming 26.4 KB per second! I remember not that
long ago that was fast. But once you get used to a DSL or T1 connection,
well that's just dog slow.

Anyways, here's Pat's picture:

To me that doesn't look right. I've soldered with a Sn62/Pb36/Ag2 paste
before and soldered lead-free components on a ENIG board and the joints
didn't look that rough. That's more than just cooling lines IMHO...
