Unfortunately, Pratap, you make statements not based on facts.
There are, in fact, field failures for more exercised products--consumer
electronic products really do not count because they are throw-away items.
The filed failures observed may or may not have anything to do with
LF-solders [this has not been established yet], but clearly very slip-shot DfR [if any
Design for reliability was done is actually doubtful] was the main reason.
The reason why many of us in the engineering community are "so agitated about
LF" is because of this colossal waste of resources producing products that
are less environmentally friendly than what we had before, and that may result
in serious reliability issues with product more complex than consumer
electronics.
