Subject: Re: [TN] Patent Pending Process Technology question

Jeffrey Bush and others:

I am reasonably familiar with the patenting process, at least with respect to the chemical part of it, and I can attest that the process is loose, uncontrolled, and at times without apparent judgement.

A couple of chemical vendors we are all familiar with got patents virtually within months of each other on alternate oxides... these two patents were granted on virtually identical technology, which was presented to the patent office in different manners.

Can you imagine the fun the attorneys had with that one? I suspect that the legal profession was the only ones who made any money off that technology.

Patents have been granted on some of the goofiest, and most obvious technology... patents have wound up meaning very little, much of the time.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the legal mind...

specific the patent is simple to get around.

Subject: [TN] Patent Pending Process Technology question

TechNet;

  I was talking with someone the other day and they mentioned their
company's "Patent Pending Process" in laminating LCP multilayer, the
patent pending part didn't make sense as many companies can press LCP,
Roger's offer's fab guides to the same. I mentioned this and he got
wickedly ticked off.

  Is this "patent pending" statement in the literature just a marketing
gimmick?

  Thank you,
