Ingemar,

Steve C here. Such a waste to toss out a large area ball bonder such as
the CBT6000.

Wish that I could tell you that there was interest in it here, but there
is not.

Could timely support have been a problem way over the pond in the
Sweden? Palomar is still in business ... right? Would they buy it back
from you for a percentage of what you paid for it??

I could create room for it in my garage, but shipping would be a
blinger. The wife would likely make me sleep out there with it! At
least I would have the heaters to keep me warm as the weather begins to
cool down

Never had the opportunity to play with a 6000, but let me do some
checking.

I am going to copy my response [in the background] to a Manufacturers
Rep that used to represent Palomar. He has been around the industry for
a while and is sharp. Maybe he will know of someone that is looking for
a machine, or knows of someone that can help. It is worth a try in any
event. Will let him contact you directly, if he can help.

I will get back to you 'off-net' with details if I can find someone with
knowledge. Don't quite remember if CTS got a 6000 towards the end or
not.

Subject: [TN] Bonding machine

Hi all,
Anyone who knows about wirebonder CBT6000 from Palomar? We have a 6
years old autobonder, has never been used because of poor business
relations visavi Palomar, and also because of incorrect engineering at
our company. Amateurship on both sides, as it seems. The machine cost a
fortune at that time. I'm now wondering if anyone out there got such a
machine and if same person knows about spare parts and troubleshooting
etc. Palomar are not interested any more. Last chance for the machine.
If there are no reasonable ways to get the machine working again, we
will dump it in the container for melting (an enormous steel
construction for making 25um wires to stick on a little substrate!)
