Design for Manufacture
December 4, 2006 - Fredericksburg, VA
Hosted by Colonial Circuits

Designing printed boards is more difficult today than ever before.
Printed board designers are faced with the continuing design issues of
surface mount vs. through-hole technology, what materials to use, board
size and layer count, how to incorporate electrical testing, what new
specifications are being used in the design process and many other
topics. The IPC Design for Manufacture Workshop will acquaint designers
with increasingly sophisticated PCB fabrication technologies. The course
will address trade-offs for designs that have both through-hole and
surface mount components; the differences between rigid and flexible
printed boards; and the tolerance characteristics that make sense using
the capabilities of today's manufacturing equipment. This workshop has
been designed to be held "on location" where each topic can be discussed
and then reviewed in tours through a manufacturing facility.

Compliant Electronics for EU Applications
December 5-6, 2006 - Fredericksburg, VA
Hosted by Colonial Circuits

Complying with the regulations developed by the European Union is
becoming the biggest challenge facing designers, fabricators, and
assemblers that participate in the electronics interconnecting industry.
The development of new rules that restrict the use of certain substances
in electronics has caught the imagination of legislators throughout the
world. As a result it is now required to not only design reliable
products and have them built under high quality conditions, but also to
define the materials that were used in producing the end product. This
two-day workshop explores the actions necessary to be an active player
in tomorrow's world of data management.

Both of these workshops are a must for anyone designing printed boards.
Other technologists who should attend the workshop are packaging and
reliability engineers, process or manufacturing engineers, as well as
purchasing personnel. All will benefit from the design solutions this
workshop will provide.
