At the moment that about says it all Daniel, however because it is a
"political reality" it is subject to change based on changes in political
perceptions and the desire of politicians not to look too much like  uneducated
bumpkins.

Change can and will happen when the time is right. Political winds will
shift based on changes in perception brought about by fundamental  economics and
scientific truths. IMHO
