Dan,

Unfortunately the political reality today is that there are too many
politicians that don't represent the people who elected them, there are
too many that break laws simply because they feel they are politicians
and can get away with it, and there are too many whose moral values
don't reflect the office they were elected too. I like you and many
others would rather be using SnPb solder as well as having good
politicians in government, but I certainly don't think that the
pragmatic solution is to look for how to live with Pb-Free solder and
bad politicians. We should be saying the reality today (political or
not) is that there are lots of things that are wrong and our efforts
should be directed to what "can" be done not what "cannot" be done.

Regards,
George

Inge,

We have plenty of negative data on lead-free, whether it is reliability
of the solder, IMC voiding on copper pads, mixing Pb and Pb-free solder,
PCB damage in Pb-free reflow, etc. But our job is to be pragmatic, to
look for solutions and know what can and cannot be done.

I'd rather be using PbSn solder but that is not the political reality
today.
