Gold over Nickel is a problematic plating for press fit.

The Nickel have a tendency to crack.

Brian,
We have a simple rule here: gold-gold or tin-tin (not the cartoon one).
So, never a gold pin into a tinned board or vice versa.

Subject: [TN] Press Fitting Soldered Contacts Into ENIG

Good morning all,
Are there any particular reliability concerns when press-fitting a
soldered contact (SN63) into a plated barrel with an ENIG surface? What
might the outcome of this be over the long term? Is this an accepted
practice? Would this be acceptable in a class 3 military application?

Thank you for your input.
