My recommendation is to remove the BGAs, clean carefully the area and the
pads surface and solder again new BGAs with new type of solder paste.
I suggest to investigate the solder paste, expiration date and the cleaning
solvent / cleaning process if exist such process.

Afternoon Saterday working people,
I told Steve that I had some problem with the microscope. Now, I have the
correct picture and has sent it to Steve for replacement. So, BGA SEMc
image
shows the correct PbCO3 content.

Pretty nice pictures Inge. I'm not knowledgeable at all of how to
interpret your pictures. Although there's something about your SEM
picture that catches my eye. I can't quite put my finger on it
though...something very strange about that image.

have my ordinary microscope camera, will send better pics later.
Hmmm...Carbon Peak is too low for PbCO3..have to do FTIR..
You all give little pessimistic view of the situation. Maybe we had
better to replace the CBGAs with the residues...and hope there will be
no more.
The funny thing is that our factory in South Africa get such crystals
too, and they use different flux and different solder alloy.
