Hi Francis,

The short answer to your question is no, there are no industry accepted
limits for chloride contamination as analyzed by ion chromatography
(assuming this is the testing you had done).  The best the industry has done
to this point is to give basic guidelines based on industry studies.  The
current values for chloride as tested by ion chromatography are defined on
page 128 of IPC-HDBK-001 and are defined according to flux type.  Based on
our experience, those values are very good as initial starting points.

As to your concern, I am unable to comment about which of the values is most
accurate or suited to your process environment as there is not enough
information to make a clear distinction.  Perhaps if you could share more of
the background into what was tested, the process/materials used, and the
testing that was done, then a distinction could possibly be made.  If you
