Hi Iain!

Not familiar with Robnor polyurethane, but have selectively stripped
Cytec Conathane CE-1155 with micro-abrasion using a CCR-2000
removal station. IMHO, this station is about the safest station out
there when using micro-abrasion. They have a decent guide on
the different removal techniques albeit a bit biased to their stations,
but still has some good information in it. It's at:

http://www.ccrco.com/study.pdf

As you undoubtably know, urethanes are very difficult to remove. I found
that relatively freshly applied urethanes almost impossible
to remove using micro-abrasion...at least without damaging other things.
I could however, sometimes bake the boards for a few hours
at say 125 C., and the coating would become a bit more hardened and
easier to remove. Fresh urethane has a little "give" to it and
the beads basically bounce off the coating instead of removing it.

Personally, I wouldn't want to think about stripping a whole urethane
coated board...YIKES!

Subject: [TN] Conformal coating rework?

Hey Techies,

I'm interested in what processes people use to remove Polyurethane
conformal coating in particular Robnor resin 313C, local or full board,
with respect to IPC class 3 manufacturing.

        Micro blast? chemical strip?

Regards,
        Iain.
