Zinc plate and passivate clear using a Cr 3 (instead of Cr 6) process.
So you end up with a silver/bluish finish. May also depend on what the
application is - if you need something very resistant you may need to
look further.

Chris

Subject: [LF] RoHS coatings for Steel
Hi all,
Much of our sheet metal is aluminum and we have addressed changing our
spec from Hex-chrome to Tri-chrome or Non-chrome Iridite. We have a few
parts that are steel (cold rolled) and in the past they have been plated
with "yellow zinc". What is the RoHS compliant plating for CR steel?
Thanks in advance,
Phil
