XRF may or may not be the right methodology for detecting everything you
need to detect at the level you need to detect it in Al...it's generally
just a screening technology. IPC TC111 WG3 recommends (last I saw, anyway)
ICP-AES, ICP-MS, and AAS for detection of Pb in metals (the draft of the
Chinese test methods doc also specifies these three methods). Regardless,
labs we work with are on the order of a few hundred $ for a single
adequate-sized sample of a homogeneous metal analyzed for presence of the
RoHS four heavy metals.

While useful, a test simply tells you the characteristics of a single
sample; not lot-to-lot consistency or anything else that could go wrong.
