Vigilance is a word to mean " pay close attention" "look very hard all the
time" .

The salts keep the roller wetted so that it will carry solder up to the
board. If there is no salt then the roller may lose the ability to do that,
you will need to keep looking to see if this happens.

The salt sits on the top of the solder in the pot and stops it from
oxidising (drossing). This surface oxide/dross could be carried to the board
also, so you need something to stop the drossing. For this you could use a
rosin blanket or tinning oil, but a water soluble oil is better as it would
be compatible with the water soluble flux.

[Strictly there is no such thing as water soluble oil, but this is a term
which is understood as it describes the way the products behave. ]

Hope all now clear?

Mike

I have not received any responce from Peter yet. I am looking forward to
his responce and secondly " e alternative to salt is vigilance and more
dross" What does vigilance mean is it a brand name? is this chemical
cause more dross? . As a responce to Mr. Sedlak we have been working
with alfachemicals but their stock is about to exhaust as far as I know.
Regards

Yusuf
