Unclear if I understand the geometry of what is needed, but there are some nice magnetic oxides, which could be incorporated in a paint, and "painted on"?

I know they sell these oxide in hardware stores, to allow you to paint a wall, and stick magnetic notes to the wall.   This might be a lot easier than plating.

of laser or water jet cut ferrous stainless.  They would like to reduce the
